MAKING WELL
A Green Social Prescribing Project at The Fathom Trust
Between 2021 and 2024, I partnered with The Fathom Trust as lead programmer and facilitator for Making Well, an Arts Council of Wales funded nature, health & wellbeing project. The project brought together artists, people with lived experience of mental and physical health challenges, health and social care services, landowners, and third-sector organisations to create opportunities for community-based health and rehabilitation.
During this time, I worked alongside master craft practitioners, including willow weavers, ceramicists, and green wood workers, supporting them to deliver their practice within a nature, arts, and health context. My role also included managing a community apothecary funded by the National Garden Scheme, as well as supporting participants to share and document their experiences of recovery through film and photography.
Delivered through a seasonal, eight-week programme, Making Well was offered to groups of people who were interested in developing skills in craft-making, connecting with nature, and exploring approaches to self-care and wellbeing.

"My anxiety is mellowed when I'm here. Everyone has 'stuff' no matter what it is. We all have our own things to manage. Part of the healing is to realise that I'm not alone."
